Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the cornerstone of the Catholic Church. The Church teaches Christ is the foundation stone, chosen by God, that unites Israel and the Gentile nations under a new covenant in His blood.
Just as the people of Israel worshipped in the temple during the time of the Old Covenant, Catholics around around the world worship Jesus as the temple of the New Covenant. Christ’s body is sacrificed at the celebration of every Mass making atonement for sin and offering eternal salvation. Jesus is the cornerstone of the Church offering fulfillment for those who worship Him under the New Covenant.
